End of a holiday weekend

I've reached the end of a four day weekend.

One thing that I made some headway with was reorganizing my home office. It has sort of been a catch-all for stuff I wanted to keep and was starting to look more like storage than a usable work area. It's much better now, I should be able to really get it well organized in the next couple of weeks when I have a little free time here and there.

As usual, I spent Sunday evening having dinner out and grocery shopping. Anthony didn't come with me (again) but he was busy doing laundry so of course, he's forgiven.

While organizing my home office, I found this photo
of myself as a little boy.
Plaid was in fashion in the 1960's, who knew?

Chicken tacos, beans, rice, chips

If Anthony had come along, he would have been sitting here.

Skippy PB Bites now have a granola variety.
Anthony loves these little brown balls.
There's a joke in there somewhere.

Speaking of balls, one got loose in the fruit snacks aisle.

Thanksgiving 2016

I took all four days of the Thanksgiving weekend off work.

I have enough paid time off banked for 2016 that I could take the entire rest of the year off paid, but that isn't exactly practical. Journal, the company that owned the TV station previously, let you carry a chunk of unused vacation over to the next year. Scripps, the current owner of the station, doesn't do that. So I'll lose what I don't use... which will likely be approximately four weeks. I suppose it could be worse like having to use it for some sort of hideous illness. Yaay for not having to do that.

One of the things I did this weekend with my time off was going to Anthony's mom's (Patty) house for Thanksgiving dinner. We dined with Patty, Anthony's brother Michael and his girlfriend Serena, and Anthony's aunt JoAnn. It was a delicious dinner and we had plenty of laughs and good conversation.

I also shot some photos.

Patty made a crock pot full of gravy
because she knows I love me some gravy.

Patty and JoAnn said after looking at this photo
that I made them look short...

So, I fixed it!

Thank you slots for the new shoes

The Presidential election was Tuesday Nov. 8. Trump wins. Half of America has a melt down. Meanwhile, I still go to work and have a show to run, still take the dog out to poop, and am the same now as I was before the election. I know a lot of people are scared but that doesn't seem to stop Lucky's pooping schedule.

Happier news: I hadn't been to a casino in a while and on a whim went and played some slots Friday night. I took home $500 and spent it this weekend on new shoes and clothes to wear to work. The Native American population may be $500 poorer today but my spiffy new shoes, shirts and sweaters more than make up for it.

Anthony skipped out on me again for Sunday night dinner and grocery shopping. He had to catch up on his missed episodes of Bravo TV's "Married To Medicine". He calls me "hunty" and says "gurrrrrl" every five minutes when that show is on. Obviously it's important to keep up with that.

I went to Macy's to their special Sunday night sale event (part of what I spent the $500 on), then Taco Bell, and grocery shopping. He stayed home and practiced saying "hunty" so in the end, it all worked out for the best.

Shoe department at Dillard's benefited from
some of my $500 in slot winnings.
I purchased two pairs including one that was
$220. I expect those shoes to provide
me sexual satisfaction for that price.

Dinner at Taco Bell: Chicken Gorditas

My receipt said that "Dreams Do Come True"
when you're hired at Taco Bell.
It would be a dream come true
if it meant free bean burritos.

How will the onion protect itself now?

And to make matters worse, the photo is upside down.

It's going to be a sad Thanksgiving for someone
because they left their pecan pie baking kit
with the Little Debbie snacks.

It's not a pizza, it's not a quesadilla....it's a Pizzadilla!
Gee, that IS a Great Value!

This random guy was staring endlessly at the stuffing mixes
near the checkout lane.
I really wanted to say to him:
"Dooooooooooo it, stuffing is wonderful"

Timeless joy and happy glow

I keep hoping after the Presidential election this Tuesday that people in America will be nice to each other again. I'm an idealistic person, obviously. But a boy can dream.

This week included a visit to my primary care physician, Dr. Pounds. He renewed my blood pressure medication subscription, gave me some paperwork to go get a blood panel done, and recommended a colonoscopy because I turned 50 years old this year. I've never had one before and while I'm not scared about the procedure, I am trying to figure out when I can take time off work to do it. From what I understand, it requires 1-2 days off to deal with and taking time off is difficult. I wish I could just do it myself but apparently sticking a finger in my butt and wiggling it around doesn't do the job effectively enough.

This weekend I did tackle some yard work. It almost felt cold outside (78 degrees) compared to the hot summer days I have been used to. This time of year it requires less maintenance so it should be good for a couple of weeks.

Anthony opted to stay home today from the dinner and grocery store run. But I soldiered on. Solo dinner was at Arby's, then the usual grocery shopping trip.

He really doesn't like going anywhere with me anymore. I don't blame him, who would want to be seen with me in public?

Sunset tonight as seen from my backyard

Anthony would have been sitting here at Arby's
if he had come with me to eat dinner.

Someone lost a napkin on the floor at Arby's.

Walmart Neighborhood Market is ready this year...
they've got plenty of Patti LaBelle's Sweet Potato Pies.
There was a nationwide shortage last year.

Kool-Aid packet fell on the floor in the beverage aisle.

It's obvious that the holidays are coming in the cookie aisle.
Peppermint Oreos and Winter Oreos are in stock.
