He had a rotator cuff injury nearly ten years ago, and in recent months it has been flaring up with pain. So, for the second time in a decade, he has had to have it operated on to repair damage.
I've mentioned this before, but medical stuff kind of freaks me out. I admire anyone who works in the medical profession because it's challenging work with long hours, but I avoid going to doctor related facilities as much as possible. It's awfully expensive for what you get... that bothers me most of all. There is no pressure for me though when it is someone else getting treatment. Plus, scrubs are kind of weird looking outfits (which doesn't help my confidence in what they do). I'm supposed to believe in the professionalism of someone wearing a semi-fitted bed sheet?
Anthony told me yesterday that he was nervous, but he hid it pretty well. I stayed until about 9 a.m. when I had to go to work, since we're down a person on our staff and I can't miss right now. Camp Lowell Surgery Center is an outpatient facility, so the level of surgery wasn't super major and I knew he'd be fine.
His mom transported him home, and other than a limp arm at the moment he's doing alright. It'll take a couple months before it's pretty much back to normal. I'm sure he'll milk the situation for all it's worth.... if I were him, I would. "Oh Ken, I can't do that... my arm is compromised".
Christmas tree in the lobby at Camp Lowell Surgery Center. Nothing says "Happy Holidays" like a surgical procedure. |
Sitting in the waiting room at 6 a.m. |
They're about to put him under and yet, he can still count to two. |
He says he doesn't remember this. Hey, nice hat! |
"Certificate of achievement in protecting people" hanging in the waiting room. I felt protected sitting there. |
