One of the miserable tasks I've had to do every time I've moved out of a place is the oven cleaning. I'm reminded every time why I cringe when food is made in the oven. I know the food will splatter, drip, bubble, or dribble. And, that means that at some point I have to figure out how to remove the burned on splatter, drips, bubbled and dribbled mess that was created when I move out.
If you haven't moved many times in your life, and you rent a place that is managed by a property management company or some entity like that, they will nail you big time for a dirty oven / stove. It's one of the most expensive charges that is added to the move out bill besides actual damage or a dirty shower / tub. That's because they are the two most time and labor involved things to clean.
A five dollar can of Easy-Off Oven Cleaner is your friend. Spray it all over in the oven, and let it sit overnight. Then, you'll need a sponge or rag and a bit of time and patience to wipe it all out. Don't spray the oven cleaner in there unless the oven is cold, and make sure you buy the type that is low or no fumes. Do not turn on the self cleaning feature or the oven period until you've wiped it out.
The part that sucks is that I just cleaned four years of burned on oven yucky out and it now looks fabulous.... and we're moving. The apartment is getting so clean that I want to move back in.
Yeah, that's not happening. Never mind.

I had to clean under the range top, too. |
