It's expensive to take animals to the vet. Fortunately for my always empty wallet there is a less expensive alternative. The Humane Society of Southern Arizona has vaccination clinics several days a week which cost nothing more than the vaccine. In this case, getting Lucky his rabies shot was $13.
The only inconvenience is that I knew there were going to be a bunch of people, long wait, and the session that worked best with my schedule was Saturday morning at 7 a.m. That's why I had stalled so long, I prefer to sleep in on Saturdays.
I went today, and even though we were number 15 in the waiting order, it was two hours before I walked out with Lucky. He was restless but did about as well as he can do in that sort of environment.
I took a few photos with my iPhone, but it was difficult to get good photos with him not wanting to hold still so I could hold the phone steady.

They were doing the actual vaccinations behind that door on the left. These four dogs in this photo went before Lucky. |
