One of the adventures in producing the TV show I work on: Receiving pitches for segments.
I talked to a woman today who said that she's some sort of holistic health coach. I find this sort of thing ridiculous, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't go on the show occasionally. I throw my own beliefs out the window when it comes to work. But, I have to wade through lots of pitches for these types of books and segments to get to a few I think viewers would find interesting.
The holistic health coach e-mailed me a document with the headline: "5 foods Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Clinton would never eat during the holidays... and neither should you."
The five foods listed are: cheeseburgers, donuts, french fries, margarine and soda.
I looked up the website associated with this coach and she wears so much makeup its scary. That was enough to not want to book this guest. Then, there's the part that really bothered me: All five of the foods named are among my favorite foods (except for margarine, I am okay with real butter).
I'm sorry holistic health coach, you may have to find another TV show to appear on. I don't trust what you're selling... unless you bring me donuts, a cheeseburger with fries, and a Diet Coke. Then I'll reconsider.
